Justine Marjan Turned $800 Chanel Earrings Into Hair Clips — Photo - Allure

You'd never know it from my entirely adequate jewelry and hair-accessory collection, but I've never been big on wearing earrings or hair clips. However, ever since last year's barrette-stacking boom, I have been trying to accessorize my plain ol' head more often — and stylist Justine Marjan just lit a very chic fire under my (plain ol') ass to get creative with both my earrings and my hair.

Earlier this week, Marjan posted a beautiful side-profile video of The Walk editor in chief Sira Pevida, showing off the hairstyle she created for her: a loose, low, wavy ponytail with some seriously fabulous adornments. "Turned her @chanelofficial earrings into hair clips ✨ always fun playing dress up with @sirapevida 👑 ," Marjan wrote in the caption, referring to the two glowing clips placed atop one another near Pevida's brow.

Yep, Marjan used $800 designer earrings as hair clips. And I know they're $800 because I found them on Chanel's official website, where I'm now drooling over literally everything. Made with glass pearls, metal, resin, and crystals, they can definitely work as both elegant earrings and classy hair clips. And Marjan tells us that, because they're clip-on earrings, they're super-easy to repurpose as hair clips.

Luckily, if $800 Chanel earrings aren't currently on your shopping list, Marjan's little trick works well with pretty much any clip-on earrings. In fact, she tells Allure, "If they're not clip-ons, create a tiny braid and pin it underneath your hair so you can pierce the earring onto it."

And the other accessory she used in Pevida's hairstyle is a lot more affordable. It's the oversized Dinner Scrunchie from Kitsch, the accessories brand with which she frequently collaborates, and it's available for $14 in a variety of colors.
